A Million Dreams - One Dream day
Remember when a cardboard
box was a rocket ship or a racing car? When the end of your garden was a
prehistoric world? When swimming at the local pool was actually swimming across
the Channel?
Remember when dreams were so
much simpler?
“Cause every night I lie in bed The brightest colours fill my head A million dreams are keeping me awake.”
When you take those million
dreams and apply them to your wedding day, does it really need to get so
complicated - and so expensive?
Actually, no. Even
Cinderella’s fairy godmother made use of a pumpkin and some handy rodents.
Everyone dreams of their
wedding day - how it will be, how it will feel. We tend not to dream about how
much it will cost. It’s so easy to get carried away with spending, or get
frustrated that you can’t afford everything you want. You can fly to the moon -
just not necessarily on a Swarovski‑encrusted rocket ship. And maybe not in an
Amazon delivery box (although you’ll probably have plenty to spare).
Whatever you choose,
whatever you spend, you will have the day of your dreams - especially if
you don’t lose out to comparison, which is the thief of joy. Pinterest is fine.
Social media tells lies. Wedding magazines are deliberately aspirational - and
often fudge the pricing.
“They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy. They can say, they can say I’ve lost my mind.”
Take those million dreams to
your one dream day. Don’t take your eye off what you want - but don’t take your
eye off the budget either. You can have what you want, but sometimes simple is
just as good.
Remember: your wedding day
doesn’t have to be perfect - and realistically, it probably won’t be. The best
bit? It doesn’t matter.
The confetti line‑up held by
a tractor? We shrugged. The late‑night fire alarm? Selfie with the firemen.
The true magic of your
wedding day is sharing it with the person you love the most, surrounded by
friends and family who love you both. It’s the moments you will remember - the
fun, the laughs, the love. Not the perfectly curated menu cards or the colour‑coordinated
signage.
Now jump in - this cardboard
box is taking us to the moon and on to the stars.
