Wedding Themes - The Bridgerton Vibe

Following the recent Bridebook survey of over 6,500 brides and grooms, it appears that traditions and themes for weddings are changing.  Gen Z couples in particular are looking for something a bit different – dropping some traditions but embracing others.  They are also looking for something special, something memorable and something personal.  If you’re looking for something that brings in tradition, with a twist, opulence and fun, then the “Bridgerton Vibe” is possibly for you, or at least a starting point!

You don’t need to be from the aristocracy to pull it off.  Sure, you could go all out -there are some beautiful manor houses and country House hotels available – or you can use elements of it to make your own day.

Bridgerton is opulent and grand – but you can distil that down to traditional formal. Think shining cutlery, sparkling glassware, a “proper” sit down meal.  Bring in that feel of grandeur but on a smaller more manageable scale.  Ask your guests to wear their best evening gown, gentleman in a suit, groom’s party in traditional tails – plus top hats of course!  Throw in parasols, cravats, gloves and we’re all set!

What other touches will help?

Candles.  Lots of candles.  Maybe mirrors.  This can be provided by a venue dressing company – or pretty easy to DIY.

Entertaining your guests – before the wedding breakfast, how about a champagne tower for your drinks reception?  They have gained popularity recently, and companies like our friends at Sip n Swig Mobile Bar can take care of that for you and perhaps a signature cocktail or two as well.

Games on the lawn – ever played croquet?  Its fabulous fun, because nobody really understands it so it doesn’t get overly serious!

Music – Its about the string quartet playing up to date tunes!  Without question the best I have worked with for this are StringInfusion, and they will dress appropriately too!   If a string quartet is out of your budget, grab some albums by The Piano Guys or Vitamin String Quartet

Having a photo booth?  Hire a retro one.  Karl at Fells Fun Booth has just built a vintage booth (with modern workings) and Georgina at Feather and Fox can work wonders with her beautiful old style camera and backdrops!

To pull the whole thing together, a master of ceremonies can carry the story, and maybe spread some wicked whispers in the style of Lady Whistledown.  Tell me your stories, or record them on an audio guest book!

Yes, this is very much where I come in.  Your own personal butler for the day, correctly attired in full tails to take care of you, and to keep the flow of your theme.  As an experienced speaker and storyteller, weaving some tales into the announcements would not only be easy for me – it would be great fun!
